Basically I am professional photographer, who works on commands of clients. I am also an amateur photographer, who takes pictures for his own expression and for his own pleasure. The pictures on this exhibition are mostly personal ones, taken for the pleasure of photography with sublime Leica camera instrument, on black and white film.

The exhibition Personal best for Leica is a testimony of 60 years of friendship between the photographer and his camera. The exhibition consist of 50 images, chosen by the artist himself from his extensive archives. This is a review of the best, most popular and very different images from Erwitt: there are portraits of famous people from the world of entertainment and politics, there are photos from his photojournalism materials and a lot of frames called simply „snaps”.
About his approach toward photography Erwitt claims: It’s about reacting to what you see, hopefully without preconception. You can find pictures anywhere. It’s simply a matter of noticing things and organizing them. You just have to care about what’s around you and have a concern with humanity and the human comedy.
