Krystian Bielatowicz (’78) had began his mystical journey in Peru, in 2006, looking for subjects for his first stories. Not quite consciously he had followed into places where people come into contact with the divine. For several years he participated in the ceremonies and rituals of the descendants of the Incas. Shamanic sessions, Indian prayers in the high mountains, the Incas oracles – this mysterious world of travel books and movies about Indiana Jones became a reality. Bielatowicz learned, that during the meeting with traditions and religions, you can still experience something unique, but also very personal. After several years of working in the Andes, Bielatowicz went to Central America. Another trip to meet with Mayan religious practices and Mexicasa (Aztecs). Mexico and Guatemala have opened a secret passage from the unconscious to the conscious. Meetings with Huicholami, Mazatekami, Mixtekami and Zapotekami was his personal journey to another world, which has become the very own world for the young traveler.

Bielatowicz held his journeys with camera in hand. Sometimes it was just a cell phone, other times an analog medium format or digital SLR. Photography has become a small gate through which sometimes escape the after-images, mind-stored reflections, that are constantly changing along with the changing reality.

In autumn 2012 Krystian Bielatowicz has published an album of black-and-white photographs from Latin America, entitled MILPA. It is a record of his mystical journey through the countries and cultures. Album premiere is accompanied in November 2012 by two exhibitions: BEHIND THE MASK at Leica Gallery in Warsaw and MILPA at Pauza Gallery in Cracow.
