Inventors of photography over one hundred and seventy years ago, spent a lot of time, trying to project this color correctly. It wasn’t an easy task. Personally I don’t like it. In addition, I’ve got bad associations. When I was a child, all teacher’s reproofs in my pupils diary were written in red. Also a political system being in force in Poland till 1989, was associated with it. Red is identified with bad taste, agression, blood and power. Everything against my aesthetics and value system. But still…
On photographs in my archives this color appears most often. It’s interesting, that it is so wide-spread, so magnetic, that I couldn’t resist it, eliminate. It squeezes in everywhere, dominates, or at least marks its presence with small, but important detail. I think I should talk about it with someone, but meantime I’m offering this exhibition.
